Trump claims he has higher Republican poll numbers than Lincoln and Reagan

President Trump has claimed to have higher poll numbers than popular Republican figures Abraham Lincoln and Ronald Reagan.

He tweeted Sunday morning: “Wow, highest Poll Numbers in the history of the Republican Party. That includes Honest Abe Lincoln and Ronald Reagan. There must be something wrong, please recheck that poll!”

The president had reportedly made a similar comment earlier this month in the U.K.

“You know, a poll just came out that I am the most popular person in the history of the Republican Party. Beating Lincoln. I beat our Honest Abe,” he told The Sun.

Though he has achieved a 90 percent approval rating by Republicans in a Gallup poll from last month, CNN says “he only beats Gerald Ford in recent history.”

Gallup points out in its own analysis: “Throughout his term, Trump’s job approval ratings have ranked well below those of other presidents at similar points in their presidencies.”
