Josh Hader booed loudly in first road appearance since offensive tweets surfaced
Milwaukee Brewers fans may have been willing to support Josh Hader shortly after offensive tweets he made when he was 17 surfaced, but fans of other teams aren’t so forgiving. In Hader’s first road game since those tweets emerged, San Francisco Giants fans booed him loudly.
The 24-year-old Hader was met with a chorus of boos from fans as he took the field in the sixth inning of Thursday’s game. It was a much different reception than he got in Milwaukee.

Hader’s offensive tweets were revealed during the All-Star Game. When Hader was on the mound, some people unearthed tweets in which Hader used racial slurs. Hader apologized for those tweets after the game, and told reporters he no longer believes the things he tweeted.
Hader’s first appearance following the All-Star Game came when the Brewers were at home. Fans greeted him with a standing ovation as he took the mound. He made another appearance at Miller Park two days later.
Thursday’s game was the first time since the All-Star break Hader pitched on the road.
