Trump's approval rating went up during summit with Putin

A new Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll showed a slight increase in President Donald Trump's approval rating from 44% to 45%, right around the time of his Helsinki meeting with Vladimir Putin.

Nine-hundred voters were surveyed between July 15th and the 18th which is when Trump sat down with the Russian president.

Trump’s support among Republicans is now at a record high for his presidency, sitting at 88%, according to The Hill.

His meeting with Putin sparked some controversy after he publicly questioned the U.S. intelligence community.

Trump had said that he didn’t see a reason why Russia would meddle in the U.S. election, but later recanted his statement saying he misspoke and that he meant to say he didn't see any reason why Russia “wouldn’t” have interfered.
