Trump: Media disparaging my ‘great’ meeting with Putin is ‘so bad for our country’

President Trump on Sunday again went after the media over the critical coverage of his July 16 summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Helsinki.

“I had a GREAT meeting with Putin and the Fake News used every bit of their energy to try and disparage it,” Trump tweeted. “So bad for our country!”

The tweet follows his Friday’s message: “I got severely criticized by the Fake News Media for being too nice to President Putin. In the Old Days they would call it Diplomacy. If I was loud & vicious, I would have been criticized for being too tough. Remember when they said I was too tough with Chairman Kim? Hypocrites!”

Trump has posted numerous tweets since his Monday’s meeting and press conference with Putin in which he “appeared to stop just short of saying he believed the Russian leader more than he did his own intelligence aides,” notes the New York Times.

“The Fake News Media wants so badly to see a major confrontation with Russia, even a confrontation that could lead to war. They are pushing so recklessly hard and hate the fact that I’ll probably have a good relationship with Putin. We are doing MUCH better than any other country!” Trump tweeted on Thursday.

And in a tweet on Wednesday, the president wrote: “Some people HATE the fact that I got along well with President Putin of Russia. They would rather go to war than see this. It’s called Trump Derangement Syndrome!”
