California man is accused of attacking his wife with a chainsaw

A manhunt is underway for a man in California who is suspected of attacking his wife with a chainsaw.

Whittier Police arrived at a home on Milton Avenue to find a woman with “traumatic physical injuries” believed to be inflicted by a chainsaw.

The suspect was identified by police as Alejandro Alvarez who apparently fled the scene in an SUV, crashed it, and stole another car.

A Whittier Police spokesperson said, “Though the chainsaw has been recovered, Alvarez is to be considered armed and dangerous.”

The couple's three children were also in the home during the incident and have reportedly been taken into protective custody, according to Newsweek.

Local news outlets are reporting that Alvarez’s wife was taken to a nearby trauma center in critical condition.
