A recent Quinnipiac poll revealed that about half of the voters in the United States believe President Trump is racist.
The specific question presented to the June 27-July 1 poll’s 1,020 participants was, “Do you think President Trump is racist, or don’t you think so?”
49% replied yes, and 47% said no.
Republicans and white men were least apt to view Trump as racist, with 11% and 34%, respectively, responding yes to the question.
Democrats and African Americans answered affirmatively most often at 86% and 79%, in that order.
55% of all respondents said they believe, “Trump has emboldened people who hold racist beliefs to express those beliefs publicly.”
Quinnipiac also addressed the issue of racism as it applies to the Trump administration’s immigration policies.
Given the choice of the rules being motivated by “a sincere interest in controlling our borders, or racist beliefs” 50% went with sincerity and 44% chose the race-related response.
