MyBookie now has extreme odds on LeBron James joining Lakers

LeBron James Lakers update: at least one sportsbook indicates that this is basically a done deal. Popular online sportsbook MyBookie now has the Lakers as heavy favorites to sign LeBron James.

While teams like the Philadelphia 76ers have floated on the periphery of James’ decision, this has long been thought of as a two-horse race. The Lakers and Cleveland Cavaliers, LeBron’s current team, are the heavy, heavy favorites.

There has been a lot of speculation on the role that the Lakers’ efforts to land Paul George in free agency or Kawhi Leonard through trade may have. So far, the team has managed neither.

George may choose to stay with the Oklahoma City Thunder, even longer than the “one plus one” extension that has been floated, perhaps. Leonard reportedly wants to be a Laker, but the Spurs control where he is dealt.

Even so, MyBookie has the Lakers as a near lock to land LeBron.

Updated LeBron James Lakers odds are at -5000, per the sportsbook.

The site issued the update this afternoon. The Cavaliers are now being rolled into the field at +1500.

For those unfamiliar with gambling parlance, that means a bettor has to wager $5000 just to win $100. On the other hand, if you think LeBron will end up literally anywhere else, it costs just $100 to win $1500.

This afternoon, King James landed in the Los Angeles area from his Anguilla vacation. He has homes in the area, so it doesn’t necessarily mean he’s off to get the next step in his life started, but it definitely adds to the rampant speculation and rumor-mongering.
