Majority of Americans approve of Trump’s handling of the economy for the first time: survey

The president’s economic approval rating has hit an all-time high since he took office, a new survey shows. According to the CNBC All America Economic Survey, the majority of Americans approve of Trump’s handling of the economy.

The economic approval rating went up 6 points, placing it at 51 percent with 36 percent of the public disapproving. Fifty-four percent said the economy is good or excellent, the highest recorded by CNBC in the 10 years of the survey.

And it apparently has had some impact on the president’s overall approval rating -- 41 percent approve of the job he is doing, while 47 percent disapprove, which is a 10-point drop from an earlier survey.

The poll conducted June 16 through 19, comes just as Trump faced major backlash for his "zero tolerance" immigration policy and the separation of families crossing the U.S. border, a policy he ended.
