Photos of the week: 6/15 - 6/22

Updated

Trump's family separation policy along the U.S. border drew massive backlash around the world this week. His move prompted many prominent figures, including former first lady Laura Bush, to speak out. As the week progressed, more details began to emerge on the startling situation brewing in a country built by immigrants.

A photo taken by esteemed Pulitzer Prize winner John Moore of a little girl crying for her mother in the Rio Grand Valley pulled at the heartstrings of millions, while photos from inside a Texas detention center for immigrant children caused a public outcry. Due to the overwhelming outrage, President Trump signed an executive order on Wednesday to keep families together despite his zero-tolerance immigration policy.

Other major headlines of the week included Melania Trump wearing an 'I don't care, do u?' jacket to visit migrant children in Texas, Saudi women prepare to be able to drive for the first time on June 24th and Canada approves the legalization of recreational use of marijuana.
