Poll: Satisfaction with US direction highest since 2005

It’s good to be an American. At least, that’s what 38 percent of Americans said, according to a new Gallup poll.

The number hasn’t been that high since 2009, when 39 percent said they are happy with our country’s direction.

Many more Republicans than Democrats said they were happy with the direction the country was going -- 68 percent actually.

Only 13 percent of Democrats said they were happy about where the United States was headed. And independents, 36 percent were satisfied.

The survey was done by phone June 1st to 13th and 1,520 people chimed in.
