Authorities find 55 people in tractor-trailer in Texas
Dozens of people suspected of entering the country illegally were found in a tractor-trailer in San Antonio, Texas, on Tuesday night.
Authorities from several different agencies responded to calls from a North Side neighborhood around 10:30 p.m. on June 12 and discovered the vehicle with 55 people inside, including children, according to KSAT.
Five individuals were taken to a hospital to be treated for minor injuries, while the rest were transported to a detention center.
"This truck was air-conditioned, thank God," said San Antonio Fire Department Chief Charles Hood. "This truck had water. So they were hydrated."
Homeland Security Investigations spokeswoman Nina Pruneda confirmed that the agency is investigating the incident.
