Elderly lotto winner is found fatally stabbed in the neck in his Bronx apartment

A 73-year-old man who just had a lottery score was found fatally stabbed in the neck in his Bronx apartment Monday night, cops said.

Cops discovered the body of Owen Dillard in his Beekman Ave. apartment near Oak Terrace in Mott Haven just after 8:30 p.m.

Dillard’s 60-year-old fiancée, who lives with him, found his body on the living room floor and called 911, police sources said.

Dillard’s stepson, Jesus Pagan, said Dillard was recently diagnosed with cancer, and had just come into $10,000 with a Lotto win.

“He used to lend out money. He hit the lottery a couple of times," Pagan said. Dillard drove a 2017 Cadillac, Pagan said. “So people knew he had money.”

Kathy Pagan, 37, who lives on the first floor and is not related to Dillard’s stepson, said she knew something was wrong when his family ran into the building screaming.

“We knew something happened,” she said. “We saw (the fiancee) running and we saw her daughter run over. We heard the yelling in the building."

Dillard’s ex-wife also lives in the building, according to the neighbor.

Dillard kept two cats and two birds as pets, Kathy Pagan said. The last time she saw him, he looked “happy as usual.”

“He looked pretty good. He was in good shape, happy. He's always like that," she said. "I feel bad. I'm sorry for his death. I know the man a very long time. ...He seen us grow up, he watched over us."

Police were still investigating the stabbing and had made no arrests early Tuesday.
