White House contractor reportedly arrested on attempted murder warrant

A man reporting for work at the White House has been arrested over an outstanding warrant for attempted murder.

Secret Service took into custody 29-year-old Martese Edwards, a private contractor who was set to do some work at the White House. ABC News, reports Edwards was working for the National Security Council out of the Eisenhower Executive Office Building next to the West Wing.

According to the Associated Press, secret service made the discovery at a checkpoint in the 1600 block of Pennsylvania Avenue.

The Washington Post reported the warrant for the suspect’s arrest was taken out May 17th in Prince George’s County, with ABC News saying it was related to a shooting.

County police said a man with the same name is wanted on a charge of attempted first-degree murder. He could now potentially face extradition to Maryland.
