Listen to audiotapes of Michael Cohen threatening journalist for Donald Trump

Michael Cohen was known for a long time as the Trump fixer. But now, the former lawyer to the president of the United States is facing legal battle for a $130,000 apparent hush payment to porn star Stormy Daniels.

And there are recently leaked tapes that shed new light on what exactly Cohen would do to protect Trump.

"I will take you for every penny you still don’t have."

Tim Mak, a reporter who now works for NPR, released these audiotapes of conversations he said he had with Cohen.

The threat came after a story Mak wrote in 2015 about Trump and his first wife Ivana.

"You’re talking about the front-runner for the GOP, presidential candidate, as well as a private individual who never raped anybody. And of course, understand that by the very definition, you can’t rape your spouse."

Ivana did make those claims, but walked them back saying the report is "totally without merit."

Meanwhile, Cohen went on CNN back in August of 2015 to apologize for his comments. "I said things out of anger none of which I believed and I immediately issued an apology."

According to Sam Nunberg, who has been in the news in his own right told CNN that Corey Lewandowski and Hope Hicks, who both worked for the campaign at that time wanted Cohen gone.

Cohen is still under criminal investigation for his business dealings.
