Fallen soldier's comrades cradle his newborn daughter in powerful photo

Army Specialist Chris Harris tragically died in combat just months before his wife gave birth to their first child — but thanks to the help of the fallen soldier's comrades, their daughter will always feel supported.

In a special photo shoot, Pinehurst Photography captured a powerful image of Harris' wife, Brittany, cradling little Christian in her arms while the brave men and women who fought alongside her husband in Afghanistan lend a helping hand.

Specialist Harris died in August 2017 at the age of 25 while serving in Afghanistan, days after learning that he would become a father, according to WTVD. Just months before his death, he and Brittany had said, 'I do.'

Harris' unit traveled to his hometown in Jackson Springs, North Carolina, on March 17 to help his wife commemorate the birth of their daughter, Christian Michelle Harris, who was named after her late father, Christopher Michael.

"Everything I do, I do it to preserve Chris' memory and to show Christian how special she is," Brittany Harris said of her daughter. "I'm just the only one that can speak for them both right now. I do everything I can to make sure they both get the recognition they deserve. Him for sacrificing his life for his country and her for being the legacy of a hero."

As fate would have it, the infant even bears a striking resemblance to her late father — her icy blue eyes, in particular.

"It's refreshing to see those blue eyes again," Brittany Harris told WTVD.

"When she was born, it was like I was looking at my own son," echoed Sue Kolean, Chris's mother.
