Off-tone Melania Trump tweet sparks serious concern for her welfare

First lady Melania Trump has been noticeably absent from the public eye since she underwent a procedure to treat a benign kidney condition —and rumors have been swirling in regards to her whereabouts.

Amid intense media scrutiny, the official FLOTUS Twitter account released a statement on Wednesday to assure the public of Melania's welfare.

However, the plan seems to have backfired.

"I see the media is working overtime speculating where I am & what I'm doing," the account tweeted. "Rest assured, I'm here at the @WhiteHouse w my family, feeling great, & working hard on behalf of children & the American people!"

Twitter users were quick to note that the tone of the statement, as well as the punctuation, sounded nothing like the first lady's typical tweeting style.

Some even went as far as to say that they believed the message looked more like it was written by President Donald Trump than his wife.

The off-tone tweet caused some Twitter users to worry about the first lady's welfare and demand answers to why she hasn't been seen in weeks.

"No way Flotus wrote this," wrote one user. "This is even more concerning, imo (in my opinion). We, the people, demand to SEE @FLOTUS!"

The message even spurred some to question if the first lady was being "held captive" inside the White House.

Most people, however, seemed to agree on one thing — they want photographic proof before they're willing to accept that FLOTUS is ok.
