NFL star’s domestic violence accuser admits to lying: 'I was going to f— up his career'

Reuben Foster domestic violence update: in February, the San Francisco 49ers linebacker was arrested after allegedly hitting his girlfriend. It was his second arrest in as many months, after an Alabama marijuana possession charge in January. Two months later, accuser Elissa Ennis, the linebacker’s ex-girlfriend, admitted that he had never hit her.

Ennis suffered injuries during a fight with another woman, including a ruptured ear drum, of which there is video evidence. The injuries were initially pinned on Foster. In late April, her attorney Stephanie Rickard said that Foster was not involved.

Foster attempted to end the relationship after the fight. From The Sacramento Bee:

“(Foster) did not strike her, injure her or threaten her,” said Rickard. She said Foster tried to end the relationship with her after learning of the fight.

“She was extremely upset and told him if he broke up with her she would ‘trash his career,’” Rickard said.

Now, Elissa Ennis is testifying, and once again says that falsified her Reuben Foster domestic violence accusation.

She admits to wanting to “f— up” and end his football career. Bay Area News Group reporter Cam Inman is on hand for the preliminary hearing:

Back in April, 49ers general manager John Lynch said that Foster would be released if the story was true. It now appears that it was not.

Foster was a collegiate star at Alabama. He has had a pretty tumultuous football career since leaving Tuscaloosa.

During the NFL Draft combine, he had an incident involving a hospital worker during his physical evaluation. He wound up tumbling to 31st overall in the first round, where he was selected by the 49ers.

As a rookie, he recorded 72 total tackles, and was named to the PFWA All-Rookie Team. Hopefully, his off-season off-field issues are coming to a close.
