Trump: Lawmakers shouldn’t go home for August break unless funding—including for the wall—is done

President Trump on Saturday targeted U.S. lawmakers in his tweet.

“The Senate should get funding done before the August break, or NOT GO HOME,” Trump wrote. “Wall and Border Security should be included. Also waiting for approval of almost 300 nominations, worst in history. Democrats are doing everything possible to obstruct, all they know how to do. STAY!”

According to CNN, the government is currently operating on a $1.3 trillion budget that was approved by Congress in March but is only effective through the end of September.

Though lawmakers allocated $1.6 billion to secure the border, the president has already argued for more funding in the next budget.

“We come up again on September 28th and if we don’t get border security we will have no choice, we will close down the country because we need border security,” Trump told the crowd at a rally in Michigan two weeks ago.
