BACK TO SLIDE

Three Americans detained by North Korea were released this week. Kim Dong Chul, Kim Hak-song and Kim Sang-duk were the last Americans being held by the reclusive nation. They traveled back to the United States with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and were met on the tarmac of Joint Base Andrews by President Donald Trump. Their release comes ahead of Trump's summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in Singapore on June 12.

Other major headlines of the week included a White House aide reportedly mocking Sen. John McCain by saying he's "dying anyway," warnings about toxic gas on the Big Island of Hawaii caused by the erupting Kilauea volcano and President Trump pulling the United States from the Iran nuclear deal.

Click through the slideshow above to see photos from all of these events and more, and be sure to check back next weekend for our selection of the best photography from the week.
