Poll: Trump achieves highest job approval rating of the year

President Trump’s job approval rating has reached its highest point of this year, according to the most recent ABC News/Washington Post poll.

In the survey, which was conducted from April 8 to 11, 40 percent of 1,002 adult respondents said they approved of the way Trump is handling his job as president.

The figure was four points lower at 36 percent in January.

The Post attributes the rise to a boost in support from certain demographic groups including whites, conservatives, and rural Americans.

However, the publication points out that Trump still faces significant disapproval from other segments including non-whites, liberals, and women.

The president also experienced a declining job approval rating in another new poll—this one, from NBC and the Wall Street Journal—which found that the number dipped by four percent compared to last month and now stands at 39 percent.
