Police officers who are sick of cold weather 'arrest' the winter

Updated

Do not freeze right there.

An upstate New York police department is so tired of the recent, brutally cold weather that it has arrested the culprit behind.

The Depew Police Department took to Facebook on Friday to inform its followers that it apprehended the winter, which was responsible for the multiple nor'easters that have slammed the state over the past few weeks.

"Dear Winter, You are hereby placed under arrest," the department wrote. "You have the right to remain silent and out of sight, but apparently not the ability. Any further snow you produce will be held against you in a court of law."

Not even Punxsutawney Phil, a known accomplice of winter, was safe from punitive action.

"You have the right to an attorney, but only if you turn in the groundhog that predicted six more weeks of winter," the humorous post stated. "If you are willing to work with us, we are willing to look past your most recent transgressions over the course of this past week. The choice is yours."

All the rest of us can do now is hope the winter doesn't get off early for good behavior.
