Tim Tebow starts off Double-A career with towering three-run homer

It only took one pitch for New York Mets outfielder Tim Tebow to make an impact with his new team. In his Double-A debut Thursday with the Binghamton Rumble Ponies, Tebow crushed a three-run homer on the first pitch he saw.

While it’s tough to tell from that video, people who saw the home run in person made it seem like Tebow sent it a long way.

The second video confirms that was the case.

This is starting to become a thing for Tebow. You may recall he also hit a home run during his first professional at-bat last season.

It’s just one at-bat, but this is exactly the type of start Tebow needed this season. The Mets have been aggressive with him, moving him through the system quickly, even when his performance has been less than stellar. Considering his age, it’s imperative that Tebow develop quickly if he wants to make an impact in the majors.

After a rocky spring, Tebow was among the Mets’ first cuts. He expressed optimism on his way out of camp, and was hopeful he could make some progress.

So far, so good on that front. Tebow still has a long way to go before he earns a major-league call-up, but you can’t get much better than kicking off the season with a home run.
