Tiger Woods’ first shot at the Masters was ugly

Tiger Woods likely envisioned a better tee shot on the first hole of the Masters this year.

Tiger Woods is playing the Masters for the first time since 2015 this year, and heading into the event, he’s considered to be one of the favorites. His first shot didn’t make it look that way, however.

Woods, opting not to hit driver on the first hole, hooked one of his irons, landing behind the trees, far left of the fairway. He wasn’t pleased with himself, predictably.

Here’s video, via CBS. It wasn’t the way Tiger wanted to start out his quest for his fifth green jacket.

Here’s Tiger’s lie for his second shot. He did a nice job with it – getting it up close to the green.

Tiger went up and down from there to save par. He’ll take that.

Woods will likely want to find a way to stay in the fairway this week. Saving par from the trees isn’t the best formula for victory.
