The Houston Astros unveiled their extravagant World Series rings

The Houston Astros are a really big team, who needed some really big rings to commemorate their 2017 World Series title. After winning their first World Series in franchise history, the organization vowed not to reveal the design until they were presented on the field and the specs on this baby were a beaut. On Tuesday night, the Astros more than made up for the botched raising of their banner on with the unveiling of their championship rings during a pregame ceremony.

The Astros bling was custom-made by Jostens, which outfitted their 10.55 carat rings with more rocks than Stonehenge. In total, each ring has 214 diamonds and 25 sapphires. The crown of their ring features their logo, the Houston H over an orange star, overlaying a navy blue background. The H consists of 11 custom-cut diamond rings, one for each of their postseason wins. The ring also features 101 diamonds on the front, one for each regular season win.

The phrase “Houston Strong,” which became a rallying cry after Hurricane Harvey devastated the city in August, is carved into one side of the ring. Directly below Houston Strong and the year of their title win, is a vibrant Commissioner’s Trophy rising out of Minute Maid Park.

The other side panel features the city of Houston being raised up after the storm by the left field wall. On the lower shank of the ring is the phrase, “Earned History.” Carved inside of the ring are the Astros records in the three series’ that culminated with their World Series title.

The Astros are expected to distribute 1,332 rings to players, coaches, clubhouse staff, training staff and front office members. And judging by owner Jim Crane’s fingers, it’s clear that no costs were spared on these mammoth-sized rings.
