Trump suggests if Hillary Clinton had won, US economy ‘would be a wreck’

President Trump on Thursday suggested that if Hillary Clinton had won, the U.S. economy wouldn’t grow as it has under his administration.

“If we didn’t win, this economy would be a wreck,” Trump said while discussing his infrastructure initiative in Ohio. “They would have added more regulations. You wouldn’t have 3 million jobs. You’d probably go negative. Your 3.2 GDPs and 3 and 2.9 would have been, in my opinion, below 1.”

Trump has often touted the recent economic growth on Twitter.

“The economy is looking really good. It has been many years that we have seen these kind of numbers. The underlying strength of companies has perhaps never been better,” the president tweeted on Monday.

However, some financial experts have expressed concerns over the recent upheaval in the stock market.

In a Wednesday report, a Yahoo piece notes, the drop has “erased almost 40% of the market cap gains the S&P has enjoyed since President Donald Trump was elected to office.”
