Report: Joe Biden continues to explore options for 2020 run

Joe Biden is continuing to discuss the possibility of running for president in 2020 with close aides.

“Between stops on his book tour and in the ramp-up for what will be a heavy midterms campaign schedule, a tight circle of aides has been brainstorming a range of tear-up-the-playbook ideas for a White House run, according to people who’ve been part of the discussions or told about them,” Politico reported Friday.

One source told the media outlet that the former vice president is “thinking through a million unconventional options, because there is an acknowledgment that this could be an unconventional campaign.”

Last month, the Associated Press reported, based on several inside sources, that Biden had told members of his new D.C.-based diplomacy center that he was considering the option but “insisted he had made no decision, and didn’t need to yet.”

When Biden was asked about a potential run on ABC’s ‘The View’ in December, he said, “If I were offered the nomination by the Lord Almighty right now, today, I would say no because we’re not ready, the family’s not ready to do this.”

“If, in a year from now, if we’re ready, and nobody has moved in that I think can do it, then I may very well do it,” he noted.
