Photos of the week: 3/2 - 3/9

Updated

A one-two punch of winter weather wreaked havoc along the East Coast this week. States from Rhode Island to Virginia were walloped with heavy winds, rain and snow. The powerful storm left at least nine people dead and knocked out power to hundreds of thousands of people. Then, as people were still digging out and cleaning up from that wintry mix, another storm hit on Wednesday. That nor'easter brought a wide range of snowfall across the Northeast and the rare weather phenomenon, called thundersnow, to New York.

Other major headlines of the week included President Trump's economic adviser Gary Cohn quitting, Frances McDormand's Oscar for Best Actress being stolen and people honoring International Women's Day across the world, including companies like McDonald's.

Click through the slideshow above to see photos from all of these events and more, and be sure to check back next weekend for our selection of the best photography from the week.
