Nationals prospect Romero sent home

Washington Nationals pitcher Seth Romero was not with the team Tuesday after being sent home for an undisclosed rules violation.

The 21-year-old is considered one of the team's top prospects.

General manager Mike Rizzo is expected to address Romero's absence, but the team provided no information. Yahoo Sports first reported the story and said the left-handed pitcher did not violate any MLB rules.

A first-round pick in 2017, Romero was the 25th overall pick in the draft after a rocky junior season at the University of Houston which included a suspension for conduct detrimental to the team and two other incidents that ultimately led to his dismissal from the Cougars' team in May.

He pitched at Class A for the Nationals last summer and posted a 5.40 ERA in six appearances.
