Michelle Obama meets young girl Parker who marveled over her portrait

After a photo went viral of a young girl marveling over Michelle Obama's portrait at the National Portrait Gallery, the former first lady decided to pay her a visit.

Ben Hines shared a breathtaking photo last week via Facebook of little Parker looking up at Michelle Obama's likeness portrayed in the commissioned work by artist Amy Sherald – and the post immediately spread like wildfire throughout social media.

"Donna Hines and I made a pilgrimage today and we were delighted to wait in line behind this fellow art lover and hopeful patriot," Hines said in the image's caption.

News of the powerful image clearly made its way to Michelle Obama herself, and the American icon shared her visit with the young girl with her Instagram followers on Tuesday.

"Parker, I'm so glad I had the chance to meet you today (and for the dance party)! Keep on dreaming big for yourself...and maybe one day I'll proudly look up at a portrait of you!" Obama wrote with the image and video of them dancing to Taylor Swift's "Shake It Off."
