Gun control took center stage this week in the aftermath of the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida that left 17 students and staff dead. Students gave impassioned speeches at a rally over the weekend in Fort Lauderdale, demonstrators held a "lie-in" in front of the White House and CNN held a town hall where shooting survivors addressed Sen. Marco Rubio. President Donald Trump also held a "listening session" where Andrew Pollack, the father of a student killed in the rampage said, "I can't get on the plane with a bottle of water, but we leave some animal to walk into a classroom and shoot our children."

Other major headlines of the week included Syria's eastern Ghouta district facing intense bombardment, former Trump campaign aide Rick Gates pleading guilty to conspiracy and the passing of U.S. evangelist Billy Graham.
