Report: Biden has discussed potential 2020 run with close aides

Former Vice President Joe Biden has discussed the possibility of running for president in 2020 with close aides.

The Associated Press reported on Monday, based on several inside sources, that Biden recently told members of his new D.C.-based diplomacy center that he is considering the option but “insisted he had made no decision, and didn’t need to yet.”

Biden is also said to have indicated that, should he decide to run, he would like those foreign policy aides to join his campaign.

When Biden was asked about a potential run on ABC’s ‘The View’ in December, he said, “If I were offered the nomination by the Lord Almighty right now, today, I would say no because we’re not ready, the family’s not ready to do this. If, in a year from now, if we’re ready, and nobody has moved in that I think can do it, then I may very well do it.”

A SurveyMonkey poll from last month showed that Biden would be the leading Democratic candidate among liberal voters, beating other top names including Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders and Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren.

However, some top Democrats have reportedly speculated that Biden, 75, would ultimately not run given his more advanced age, family and personal pursuits, and uneven bids for office in the past.
