Two brothers exchange heartfelt text messages during Florida school shooting

Two brothers who survived the Florida school shooting shared heartfelt text messages between each other as gunfire rang out, not knowing if they would make it out alive.

According to the Daily Mail, senior Sam Zeif sent a text to his 14-year-old brother Matthew, shortly after the shooting started at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.

The texts began with Sam saying, “are you okay?”

Matthew: hopefully just know, i love you

Sam: I love you too

Matthew: forever and your the best brother

Sam: We’re gonna get out of here I promise.

Matthew then went onto tell his older brother that his teacher had died. The two kept texting as Sam warned his little brother to stay hidden and to continue answering him.

Sam sent out a tweet with the messages attached saying he never really treated his brother the way he deserved and seeing his face outside of school was the most relief he had ever felt.

Nikolas Cruz is charged with 17 counts of premeditated murder after admitting to the shooting.
