49ers LB Reuben Foster arrested on suspicion of domestic violence

San Francisco 49ers linebacker Reuben Foster was arrested Sunday on suspicion of domestic violence and possession of an assault rifle, according to multiple media reports.

Foster was booked at the Santa Clara (Calif.) County Jail and held on $75,000, according to jail records. The incident happened at a residence in Los Gatos, Calif.

The 49ers confirmed knowledge of the 23-year-old's arrest.

"The San Francisco 49ers organization is aware of the report regarding Reuben Foster. We take matters of this nature seriously and are gathering all pertinent information," the team's statement said.

This is the second time Foster has been arrested since the NFL regular season ended.

He also was arrested in Tuscaloosa, Ala., on Jan. 12 and charged with second-degree marijuana possession. Foster was a college star at Alabama, which is located in Tuscaloosa.

Prior to the 2017 NFL Draft, Foster's character was called into question due to a couple of incidents at the NFL combine. He failed a drug test because he submitted a diluted sample and also was dismissed from the combine due to an altercation with a hospital employee.

Foster, who was expected to be a top-10 pick, slid down the draft boards of teams until San Francisco landed him with the 31st pick. He had 72 tackles last season despite being limited to 10 games due to injuries.
