Ukraine luger Andriy Mandziy falls off sled, but makes amazing recovery at 2018 Winter Olympics

This might be the most impressive and entertaining last-place finish in luging history.

During the first run of the men's singles competition Saturday at the 2018 Winter Games in Pyeongchang, Andriy Mandziy of Ukraine fell off his sled, only to recollect it, hop back on and reach the end of the course.

Mandziy bumped into a side wall just 15 seconds into the run, flipping his sled over and sending him sliding facedown on the ice. He immediately reached with his left hand and secured the sled before surging forward on his stomach for another five seconds. Eventually, Mandziy turned over and jumped back on the sled, after slapping the ice in frustration.

He finished with a time of 1:02.395, which ended up being 11 seconds behind the luger in second to last and 15 seconds behind the leader.

The 29-year-old came in 31st place at the 2014 Sochi Games and has never finished higher than 27th at the World Championships.
