Report: Greg Schiano is leaving Ohio State for the Patriots

The New England Patriots are losing their longtime defensive coordinator, Matt Patricia. He’s expected to be officially introduced as the Detroit Lions’ new head coach soon.

Bill Belichick has reportedly gone to the college ranks to get his replacement. A top Big Ten assistant is reportedly expected to take the job.

Football Scoop is reporting that Ohio State defensive coordinator Greg Schiano is leaving the Buckeyes for the Pats. Belichick has long been a big supporter of Schiano.

Greg Schiano is expected to become the defensive coordinator of the New England Patriots, sources told FootballScoop on Monday. Schiano recently completed his third season as Ohio State’s assistant head coach, defensive coordinator and safeties coach.

It was reported last week that Schiano would interview for the job, and sources tell us the deal expected to be completed.

Schiano, 51, has been at Ohio State since 2016. Urban Meyer asks all of his assistant coaches to give him two years and Schiano has done that.
