These images of Mars from NASA's Curiosity rover are possibly the best yet

NASA's Curiosity rover has just sent us what may arguably be the best images of the Red Planet to date.

Stitched together from 16 images taken by the rover, this stunning panorama was created by NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory.

The images are so clear that they were even able to map out the route Curiosity took to get where it currently sits today, which was via the Gale Crater — a hole the size of Rhode Island and Connecticut combined.

The rover has also been able to identify an ancient stream bed known as Peace Vallis which, like many others, formed lakes inside Gale Crater's a long time ago.

Before leaving its current position on Vera Rubin Ridge, Curiosity will drill into the region’s surface and analyze rock samples.
