Teenager sentenced to 40 years in mental hospital for Slender Man stabbing

A judge sentenced Morgan Geyser, 15, who stabbed her classmate 19 times in order to appease a fictional horror character known as Slender Man, to 40 years in a mental hospital on Thursday.

Geyser and her friend Anissa Weier lured fellow classmate Payton Leutner in the woods during a sleepover before brutally attacking her in May 2014 when they were all just 12 years old.

Investigators say Geyser stabbed Leutner 19 times while Weier urged her on. The pair then left Leutner for dead, but the girl was able to crawl out of the woods and flag down a passing cyclist for help.

A Waukesha County Circuit Court judge handed down the maximum sentence after a daylong hearing in court, according to WPIX.

Weier was sentenced to 25 years in a mental hospital in December for her role in the attack.
