US releases 'Putin list' of Russian politicians and oligarchs

The Trump administration released a list on Monday of Russian politicians and oligarchs who have flourished under President Vladimir Putin.

Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev is on 'Putin’s list.' So is Roman Abramovich.

There’s 114 senior politicians and 96 oligarchs. It’s a list that some are pretty unhappy about being on.

Spokesman Dmitry Peskov, who is himself on the list, said that being on this list could "damage the image and reputation of our firms, our businessmen, our politicians, and of members of the leadership."

The Trump administration had until Monday to issue the list under a law passed last year -- the Countering America’s Adversaries Through Sanctions Act.

Some are the subject of sanctions, but those named won’t be hit with new sanctions.
