Report: North Korean Olympic athletes will be given a free apartment and a Mercedes Benz if they win a medal

Kim Jong Un is proving to the world how much he loves sports.

His athletes at this year's winter Olympics will have some extra incentive to win a medal. They’ll be given a free apartment and a Mercedes Benz.

Not only that, the winners will be named National Heroes and Heroes of Labour.

The rogue nation will have 22 competitors at the South Korea games. And since 1964, the North has won just two medals -- a silver and a bronze in skating.

The DailyMail spoke to a former North Korean athlete who said the lives of athletes have gotten better under Kim Jong Un, saying "this is because he seems to love sports like skiing, basketball and others. So the status of athletes has naturally risen due to his support for sports and athletics."

While the winter games seem to be the North’s achilles heel, they perform better in the summer, with 56 medals including 16 golds.
