Jemele Hill is leaving SportsCenter for The Undefeated

Jemele Hill is leaving buddy Michael Smith in need of a new co-anchor.

Sports Illustrated has reported that Hill is departing the "SC6" SportsCenter desk to join the staff of The Undefeated.

The Friday report cited sources that said Hill asked management for the switch to the ESPN microsite, which blends race, sports and culture, among other topics.

Hill, 42, is reportedly expected to depart the 6 p.m. show in February, one year after she and Smith began the relaunched SportsCenter evening program, “The Six.”

Hill’s upcoming move follows a year in which she garnered national attention as one of ESPN’s most prominent voices. In September, she ignited a firestorm for her tweet that referred to President Trump as a “white supremacist.” The White House called for Hill to be fired, and Trump also responded directly to her on Twitter.

The network said in a statement that her comments about Trump “do not represent the position of ESPN.”

The company then suspended her for two weeks for violating its social media policy after she tweeted about Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones’ stance on the national anthem.

Upon her return to “The Six,” Hill said she deserved her suspension and that she and ESPN were “in a good place.”
