Report: John Kelly often threatened to quit to get Trump to listen to him

Since John Kelly took over as chief of staff to President Trump, rumors about his unhappiness and frustration inside the White House have been widely reported on.

But a new report from the New York Times says Kelly often threatened to quit his post to try and get his boss to listen to him.

One adviser told the Times that the retired general’s threats to leave were one of the few pieces of leverage he had over Trump.

Kelly spoke to Fox News on Wednesday denying that he threatened to quit.

“Never wanted to do another regular job, this ain’t a regular job. I am in this for the long haul. It is the most important thing I’ve ever done in my life.”

The Times also reported that Kelly will walk out of meetings and yell at advisers who talk to the President without his permission.

Now, recently, Kelly and Trump were at odds over his proposed border wall. Kelly told Fox that his views on the subject have evolved, while Trump responded saying his stance on the wall has never changed or evolved.
