CBS captures Blake Bortles crying on the sideline after loss to the Patriots

Jacksonville’s quarterback played his heart out today.

Blake Bortles could use a hug right now. Jacksonville’s quarterback played his heart out against New England this afternoon, but it wasn’t enough.

The Jaguars fell to the Patriots in the AFC Championship Game, 24-20. It was one of the best games of the year.

No one expected Bortles, the most-criticized quarterback in the NFL, to do much of anything today. The Jaguars were a sizable favorite and nearly every expert picked New England to win.

Bortles more than held his own on against the greatest QB of all-time, though. He for sure played well enough to get the victory.

The former UCF quarterback helped Jacksonville get out to a 14-3 lead and had them in control for most of the game. He ended up throwing for 293 yards and 1 touchdown on 23 of 36 passing.

Unsurprisingly, Bortles looked crushed by the loss. CBS cameras captured him shedding some tears on the sideline while New England secured the win.

Check it out:

That’s tough to watch. You’ve got nothing to be ashamed of, Blake.

Jacksonville is one of the deepest, most-talented teams in the NFL. The Jaguars will be back.

New England, meanwhile, goes on to the Super Bowl. The Patriots will face either the Eagles or the Vikings in Minnesota in two weeks.
