Poll finds Melania Trump is the ‘most popular Trump’

A new poll shows that Melania Trump is the most popular member of the first family.

According to the Economist /YouGov survey, “she is more popular than her husband and more popular than First Daughter Ivanka.”

Specifically, 48% expressed a favorable opinion of Melania Trump and 33% unfavorable. This compares to 43-52 for President Trump, 41-42 for Ivanka Trump, 36-49 for Donald Trump Jr., 32-43 for Eric Trump, and 25-44 for Jared Kushner.

The survey included 1,500 U.S. adults and was taken from January 14 to January 16 of this year.

This is not the first poll to reflect Melania Trump’s relatively higher popularity.

A Gallup poll, conducted from December 4 to December 11, indicated that a majority of Americans had a favorable view of the first lady.

“Melania Trump’s favorable rating has risen 17 percentage points since January to 54% as she has become better known in her role as first lady,” Gallup noted in a statement at the time. “In contrast, a majority of Americans continue to view President Donald Trump unfavorably — his current unfavorable rating of 56% is nearly identical to January’s rating of 55%.”

Gallup pointed out that other first ladies have also had higher ratings than past presidents, in part because their roles are less controversial and “more ceremonial.”

Melania Trump did recently find herself in the headlines after a friend told Vanity Fair, “This isn’t something she wanted and it isn’t something he ever thought he’d win.”

“She didn’t want this come hell or high water,” the individual also said.

A spokesperson for the first lady later blasted Vanity Fair for suggesting that Melania is anything but thrilled to serve the nation.

President Trump also came to her defense in a tweet.

“Melania, our great and very hard working First Lady, who truly loves what she is doing, always thought that ‘if you run, you will win.’ She would tell everyone that, ‘no doubt, he will win.’ I also felt I would win (or I would not have run) – and Country is doing great!” the president tweeted.
