Poll: Americans don't think media is doing its job

President Trump’s latest battle with the media is with the Wall Street Journal. He called the newspaper "fake news" after claiming he was misquoted.

This occurred as a new poll reveals what role Americans think the media is playing in the democratic process.

According to the Gallup-Knight Foundation survey, 84 percent of Americans think the media has a very important or critical role. However, 43 percent said, when it comes to supporting democracy, the media is not doing a good job.

When it comes to political parties, 69 percent of Republicans said the media was doing a poor or very poor job supporting the democratic process.

When asked if media itself was critical, Democrats took the top spot at 54 percent.

Forty-three percent of those surveyed said they did not favor the media all together.
