The incident took place with 1:37 remaining in the second period. Chara, who possesses one of the hardest shots in the league, blasted one from the blue line, hitting Danault, who was standing at the top of the faceoff circle, on the right side of his head off his helmet. The 24-year-old fell to the ice and appeared to be unconscious as trainers rushed to his aid.

Danault was moving and speaking to the medical staff before he was stretchered off the ice.
