Houston Police explain what Courtney Roland told them when she was found

Houston Police found missing Rivals.com reporter Courtney Roland underneath an overpass on Monday night.

Roland, 29, was reported missing over the weekend. She was last heard from early on Sunday morning, when she sent what was described as a “nonsensical” text message to her roommate, saying she was being followed by a suspicious man.

Houston Police explained at a press conference on Monday afternoon that they believe Roland’s disappearance was caused by a reaction to medication. Roland reportedly suffered memory loss as a result and was confused when police found her. They do not believe there was any foul play.

“When our people were talking with her she seemed pretty confused about everything,” police Lt. Manuel Cruz Jr. told reporters.

CBS News has more information on what they believe happened:

Cruz said she appeared to have spent much of her time searching for her phone, which was found in the Jeep along with other personal items. At one point she was using an iPad app in an effort to find the phone.

She wasn’t aware that she had been reported as missing and her state of confusion caused her to lose track of time, police said.

“We do not suspect any foul play or any kind of suspicious activity attached to this incident,” Cruz said.

This is where Roland was found:

Roland is now safe and recovering with her family. Our thoughts are with her and those closer to her.
