Trump mixes up 'consequential' with 'consensual presidency', Twitter responds

After facing backlash from the controversial new book, “Fire and Fury”, President Trump shared a favorable column by the New York Post titled, "We’re still better off with Trump than Clinton."

However, he misquoted one of the writer’s biggest critiques.

Michael Goodwin, who is apparently friendly with the President, praises Trump’s work in the column, even saying, “there has never been a day when I wished Hillary Clinton were president."

Goodwin, however, also acknowledges the President’s mistakes, writing that Trump’s time in the White House is, “turning out to be an enormously consequential presidency."

Trump’s tweet left out any of his failures that Goodwin points out in the column and included a misquote of the word “consequential,” with the President instead writing that his Presidency is, “turning out to be an enormously consensual presidency. So much so that...there has never been a day that I wished Hillary Clinton were President. Not one.”

Trump eventually deleted his tweets and reposted the column with the correct quote.

The column examines what a possible Clinton administration would have looked liked while also praising the President for his criticism of former White House Chief Strategist, Steve Bannon.
