Woman says she was sexually assaulted while asleep on flight to Detroit

A 22-year old woman has accused a man of sexually assaulting her while she slept on a flight.

The assault allegedly occurred on a Spirit Airlines flight from Las Vegas to Detroit on Wednesday. Flight attendants say the woman "appeared visibly upset and was crying," as she immediately reported the abuse.

She says while sleeping on the flight, Prabhu Ramamoorthy unbuttoned her shirt and pants and fondled her, stopping only when she fully awoke.

Ramamoorthy, a citizen of India, has been taken into police custody. Because he is not an American citizen, he has the right to ask the government to contact his home country for help with legal representation and to contact his family.
