Trump: I use social media because it’s the ‘only way to fight…dishonest press’

President Trump took to Twitter on Saturday and lashed out at the media.

“I use Social Media not because I like to, but because it is the only way to fight a VERY dishonest and unfair ‘press,’ now often referred to as Fake News Media,” Trump tweeted. “Phony and non-existent ‘sources’ are being used more often than ever. Many stories & reports a pure fiction!”

In the past, Trump has credited social media for its role in helping him become president.

“I doubt I’d be here if it weren’t for social media,” Trump told host Maria Bartiromo in a Fox News interview. He added that through Twitter and other platforms, he’s able to bypass mainstream media and reach millions of people without any filter.

Talking specifically about his tweets, the president said they are “well crafted,” and he is a person that “does well with that kind of thing.”

Many, however, have slammed Trump for using Twitter to attack various organizations and individuals.

In response to the criticism, Trump wrote back in August, “Only the Fake News Media and Trump enemies want me to stop using Social Media (110 million people). Only way for me to get the truth out!”
