Man accused of spraying feces, urine on supermarket salad bar

A disgruntled South Carolina man sprayed a mixture of his own feces and urine on a supermarket salad bar because the store owed him money, authorities said.

Pau Suan Hang was arraigned on federal charges Wednesday after police said he admitted to mixing the foul concoction in his vehicle before heading inside a West Ashley Harris Teeter in October.

Surveillance video from inside the grocery store showed the 41-year-old man spraying the substance on the salad bar, sushi bar and produce, WCSC reports.

Hang also allegedly sprayed the foul-smelling liquid on items in the deli food area and the prepared food bar.

About $3,000 worth of food was ruined, authorities said.

Police were called to the store and Hang was arrested on state charges and held on more than $200,000 bail, according to the Post and Courier.

He was arraigned on federal charges Wednesday after the liquid tested positive for fecal matter.

A grand jury indicted him Dec. 13 on two federal counts of tampering with consumer goods with reckless disregard to people and two counts of tainting products with intent to damage a business.

Authorities said Hang worked as a third-party contractor for Harris Teeter and claimed the grocery store "owed him money."

Hang, who is listed as homeless in court records, was placed on trespass notice at the West Ashley supermarket but was arrested at least seven times for violating it.

If convicted, he faces up to 10 years in prison.
